LEICESTER are all set to open the doors of Beaumont Park to competitive racing for the first time on Saturday.Speedway returns to the city after a 28-year absence when the new lyre-launched Lions, under the promotion of David Hemsley, take on Sheffieldin a challenge fixture, and a sell-out crowd is expected.Hemsley said: "Over the last two weeks we have made huge progress with the construction of the three stands, the walkway from the car park to the stadium and the completion of facilities people expect in a public area. This just leaves us with a few small tasks to complete ahead of our opening meeting on Saturday."I was delighted with how many people came along to watch the riders practice and it shows the level of interest that has been created. Fans have sent messages to say they enjoyed the practice session and were ver yimpressed with how the stadium looks."
