Motors TV will become the new home of Superleague Formula this season with the ‘High Speed Television’ channel screening live coverage of all 12 rounds throughout the year.
Superleague Formula, which is about to begin its fourth season, has become one of the most exciting single-seater series in world motorsport since its launch in 2008. The championship has partnered with a number of the world´s major football teams and uniquely brings those clubs’ colours to the race track.
Motors TV will be the place to catch live television coverage of the entire season with two and a half hours of as-it-happens action on Sundays from both 40-minute feature races – the second featuring a fully reversed grid – and unique six-car, five-lap Super Final where a prize total of €280,000 will be up for grabs at every round.
Superleague Formula features top-flight drivers, powerful 4.2litre V12 single-seaters and unique race formats, which combine to create the sort of spectacular racing not found in any other championship.
Frederic Viger, Motors TV’s Head of Programming and Acquisitions: “I’ve watched with interest over the past three years as Superleague Formula has grown into one of the most exciting racing series in the world. Its powerful cars, unique format and thrillingly unpredictable racing will make for some unmissable live television in 2011 so naturally we’re delighted that it will become one of Motors TV’s flagship programmes.”
Robin Webb, Superleague Formula Competitions Director: “Our aim with Superleague Formula has always been to bring more to race weekends and television screens than simply fast cars. Our race cars from the beginning have been designed to encourage and facilitate overtaking, which is something that our drivers revel in. Now we are bringing the live drama of what happens in the pit garages, in the 20 minutes between races, live to TV screens around the world. It is a place of frenetic energy and high emotion and we are uniquely in world motorsport giving viewers the whole story of every race weekend. Spreading awareness of Superleague Formula, our drivers and teams, is a key goal for 2011 and with Motors TV’s unrivalled platform for live motorsport coverage we have found a fantastic broadcast partner to help us achieve that.”
