Ok - there are a number of things which would cause the father to listen intently - but an admission that nearly £300k's worth of chariot has been binned will probably get his attention...

It kind of takes you back to the improbable excuses that you "may" have given to your parents after your first few prangs:

- sheep/deer/cat/dog/pheasant etc ran out in road

- i was driving really slowly...it must have been black ice/diesel etc etc

Anyway - the 20 year old lad accompanied by a 19 year old female passenger is going to have a harder job than most after writing off his old man's Gumpert Apollo on a sharp bend near Hamburg to convince his dad that he was driving sensibly - not trying to impress a young lady at all...when it suddenly went pear shaped - car written off - door ends up 100 feet away.

The good news is that the driver and passenger walked away with minor injuries...

The bad news is that when the father gets over the relief that the kids are Ok - we miss out on what was probably a proper class A rollicking - that would have reminded many of us of our youth!
