Round 4: Tour of the Sperrins, 8 May
Kenny McKinstry continued his dominance of the 2011 championship by securing his fourth consecutive victory of the year on the Tour of the Sperrins.
Donagh Kelly led the rally early on, with McKinstry suffering gear selection problems on SS3 and ending the first loop of stages in fourth place. However, when the action resumed he began a charge that carried him into the lead on SS5.
McKinstry’s win leaves a 13-point cushion between himself and Kelly in the title race. Derek McGarrity, Connor McCloskey and John McGaffin were all absent from the event and have lost ground as a result.
