Sam Brabham is set to contest the third and fourth rounds of the Formula Kart Stars series, on May 21-22, and heads to the Three Sisters circuit, near Wigan, with Ellis Clowes & Company Ltd confirmed as a valued new sponsor.
Sam impressed on his Formula Kart Stars debut at the opening Rowrah rounds last month, already mixing it in the mid-field of the fiercely competitive Junior Max class, to finish on the cusp of the top 15 in round two.
Already demonstrating promising potential racing with the Project One team, the 16 year-old from Henley-on-Thames has secured fresh backing from Ellis Clowes in perfect time for only his second event in Formula Kart Stars, the UK’s premier training ground for aspiring racing drivers.
Specialist Lloyds Insurance Broker, Ellis Clowes has evolved from the well-respected TL Clowes company, the leading provider of professional and personal insurance services to the motor sport industry for more than 30 years.
Experts across the entire spectrum of insurance risk management and associated insurance products, Ellis Clowes represent a world class client base, from individual competitors and teams to championship organisers and governing bodies across every major motor sport championship around the globe.
The perfect sponsorship partner for Sam as he starts to climb the motor racing ranks, Ellis Clowes joins Liberty International UnderwritersTM (LIU) and Grand Privé in supporting his progression to national championship karting following impressive results at club level.
Representing a third generation of the Brabham family to embark on a racing career, Sam is relishing the challenge of expanding his experience with every race as he joins the UK’s top young karters contesting the popular category for 13-17 year-olds. He will be aiming to continue to record consistent results as he battles his way up through the bumper Junior Max field next weekend in Wigan.

Sam Brabham, Formula Kart Stars Junior Max No. 23:
"I’d like to thank Ellis Clowes for supporting my racing. It is great to have another sponsor onboard for my first year competing in Formula Kart Stars. Their support is vital in helping me to progress my career.
“I’m feeling confident about the third and fourth rounds at Three Sisters. I will be better prepared for the event as I did a club meeting there a few weeks ago and that went quite well. It’s a great track and I quickly got the hang of it.
“We improved throughout the club weekend so I’m sure we can perform well in the Stars rounds. I’ll be aiming to move up the grid and I’m looking forward to joining the mid-field battles as I continue to build on my experience.”
Karen Ellis, Managing Director of Ellis Clowes:
“Through its heritage, Ellis Clowes has been a leading provider to the global motor sport industry for more than 30 years, so it’s particularly rewarding to be able to support Sam at the start of his racing career. Sam is a rare racing talent and he has already proved he has the potential and commitment to continue the Brabham racing legacy.
“We have provided insurance advice and service to all of the Brabham family, including Sir Jack Brabham, over three decades and we are pleased to build on those family foundations. We wish Sam every success this season. We follow his karting endeavours and progression through the motor racing ranks with great interest.”
David Brabham:
“I am delighted that Ellis Clowes is supporting Sam in his quest to succeed in motor racing. I have always had a special relationship with Karen Ellis and Tim Clowes, as they have always done a fantastic job with finding the best insurances for my needs. I will also be working with Ellis Clowes through my own racing, so the relationship is set to get even stronger.”
