It was a busy weekend of racing for LoTRDC with races for the Elise Trophy at Oulton Park on 14 May and Lotus Cup Europe at Magny-Cours on 14-15 May.
Luigi Mazza took a double victory in Cheshire to follow up a stunning pole position lap of the circuit. Ken Savage put up a strong fight in the first round but was unable to answer his rival’s pace and a squabble behind the pair ended in favour of Stuart Plotnek, who had fought his way up the field.
Mazza was an irresistible force in the second race, his tenth place on the grid posing no problem as he chased down and passed impressive rookie Chris Dunster. With Savage spinning down the order, Ben Hyland had to settle for third, despite catching Dunster’s slipstream on the final run to the line.
Dijon winner Remi Pochauvin left Magny-Cours with another perfect score and only Christophe Lisandre and Karl Vivion were able to live with his pace. Taking another 2-Eleven from Boucier Competion’s collection, the former Le Mans 24-Hour competitor only blotted his copybook with a less than perfect start in race two.
Lisandre and Vivion swapped podium places between the races and behind them the action was frantic throughout the field of 38 cars. Class wins were claimed by John Rasse and Olivier Cunat (Exige), Gregory Rasse (Evora), David Fenn (Open) and Matt Bartlett (Production).
