Round 2: Brynffynon, Rhondda, 14-15 May

Ian Rochelle took victory in round two after a weekend-long battle with former champion Richard Kershaw.

Rochelle made a flying start to the event, taking an early lead in his Millington Mattserati and carrying a 20-second advantage over Kershaw into day two.

After five runs on day two Kershaw had moved into a three-second lead. With all to play for on the final run Rochelle decided to dispense with his navigator to save weight; the showdown ended with Kershaw suffering a broken gearbox, which dropped him down the leaderboard as Rochelle secured the win.
