The final test for the 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 Series was a very important one as it took place on the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain, where the first round of the 2012 Championship will take place in less than two weeks time.
In weather conditions that were much more favourable for testing - sun and a consistent track - DAMS was back in form and did a couple of excellent days' work. In terms of the times the team's encouraging performance was expressed by Arthur Pic's speed, as the Frenchman was always at the top of the time sheets between first and fourth places throughout both days. Lucas Foresti made good progress in his driving, but he wasn't feeling too well the following one and did very little running.
The overall results of these tests are very positive for the team as it got through a wide range of setups, set excellent times, completed a race simulation and did a lot of work on pit stops.
François Sicard, general manager: "First of all I'd like to congratulate the team for both the quantity and the quality of the work during these two days. These tests have been extremely productive as we were able to carry out full preparations for the first race. Arthur Pic validated all this effort with his lap times and Lucas Foresti has made good progress. We can't wait to come back here for the opening round of the championship."
Arthur Pic: "I'm very happy with this test for both myself and the team that I'd like to thank very much. We were able to define the right directions for the setups, do a race distance and learn a lot because of the quality of the laps we put in. We've got the pace and I'll come back here feeling optimistic for the start of the championship."
Lucas Foresti: "My feelings are shared between the frustration of the final day cut short because I wasn't feeling well, and the satisfaction of having progressed with my driving. I'd like to thank the team for its support and all the work; it helped me move forward. A few technical glitches and my illness prevented me from confirming the work, but I'm ready for the start of the season."
