An Unhappy week end in England for Davide Rigon.
In the second round of Blancpain GT Endurance Series on Silverstone’s track, the Italian tdriver’s week end has been blighted by an engine sensor problem which has compromised most of his work on the free practices, forcing him enter the qualifying session with only six laps under his belt.
The standard-bearer of Kessel Racing Team started the first part of qualifying session, then handed over command of the Ferrari 458 to his team mates Gattuso and Zampieri, qualifying in 18th
After a first part of the race characterised by heavy rain and a mistake at the first pit stop, Davide took over the reins of the car in the third last stint, when the rain is over, crossing the line at the foot of top ten.
“ During a free practices session we had an engine sensor problem just when I was on track, this cost us an hour of work. I showed up in qualifying with only six laps. It would have been very important for me to gain experience on dry track. I only succeeded in running the first part of a qualifying session, when I had more fuel on board and I finished with an eleventh position. During the race, when the track was wet, we caught up several positions but a mistake at the pit stop frustrated Daniel’s work. “ said Rigon.
“ With the second tyre change, all was done to perfection, but unfortunately, we didn’t manage to do the same time as the first part. When the rain stopped, the car wasn’t the same any more. We’ll analyze telemetry in details to understand what didn’t work. This was an unlucky week end but we don’t have to give up. My feeling with the car has improved, this is really important. At the Paul Ricard circuit temperatures will be so different”, finishes Davide Rigon.
Next date with Davide Rigon will be on June, the 29th in France, at Paul Ricard circuit.
