Team Suzuki Speed Racing's Javi del Amor and Adrián Bonastre collected a podium position and a fourth place at this weekend's fourth round of the Spanish (CEV) Superbike Championship at the Montmeló circuit in Spain.
GSX-R1000-mounted del Amor raced to third place after leading for several laps; getting involved in a fierce three-rider battle for the win. Team-mate Bonastre, who started from fifth place on the grid, proved he is a force to be reckoned with and inched ever-closer to his first podium position of the season.
With the Spanish Suzuki squad the most prolific team at the event, del Amor and Bonastre hold fifth and seventh places respectively after four of seven rounds and showing promise that there's more to come in the remaining races.
Jose Regaña - Team Manager:
"I am very happy; not just for the podium position but to have our riders in those positions means we are doing a great job! We have been working hard this weekend, particularly on how to improve the power of the bikes, the results have been more-than satisfactory; and the GSX-R and the tyre-performances have been excellent."
Javi del Amor:
"I really enjoyed it this weekend. I got a podium in Motorland Aragon but I finished a long-way from the front, but today in Montmeló I have been able to fight with the front runners. Every day we get better and better and I would like to dedicate this podium to all the efforts of the team, Suzuki for all its help; and Dunlop for giving us the tyres to fight at the front."
Adrián Bonastre:
"I had a good start and was in third place at the first turn but I got passed by a few riders. I tried to overtake several times, but I couldn't and wasn't able to get on the pace again after that to be at the front. I gave my best and the set of the tyres we had were perfect for the race."
