THE JD MOTORSPORT DRIVER FROM PADUA CONFIRM HIMSELF IN THIRD POSITION ANS AS LEADER OF THE F.3 ROOKIE CHAMPIONSHIP
Riccardo Agostini confirms himself once more as one of the top stars of the Italian F.3 Championship. The driver from Padua managed to hit the target for the second time with his Mygale-Fpt and, as he did in Budapest, reached the podium in all the 3 races.
It was a perfect weekend in Misano, where the 18-year old JD Motorsport driver managed to extend his leadership among the Rookie stabilising the 3rd position also in the general European F.3 Italian Series standings and getting back the third position in Italian Championship.
It has been a showdown for Agostini, who has fought with strength, showing to have the right attitude to aim high in the remaining four events of the season (yesterdays was the turning point of the 2012 calendar).
The first victory of the weekend was a 3rd time in the qualifying, which granted to the driver the right to start in second row in the first two races. Saturday Agostini was able to maintain the position imposing his rhythm since the first stages of the race.
In Race 2 then, after retroceding to the 4rth position at the start, at the 6th round lounched a fast attack against Kevin Giovesi, re-gaining the third position and keeping it till the end of the race.
Perfect performance in Race 3, with the reversed grid, where Agostini started once more in the second row. But this time the JD Motorsport driver, without hesitations, obtained at the start the second position, defending himself during the early stages of the race from the attempts of the Russian Sergey Sirotkin, and leaving him behind after few rounds. When Giovesi, due to an irregularity, has been penalised with a drive-through, Agostini jumped ahead leading the race in front of Eddie Cheever and fighting against his attacks till the end.Now the driver from Padua is 24 points ahead Sirotkin in the Rookie standings. Next appointment will be in the Austrian track of Zeltweg-Red Bull Ring, the first weekend of August.
