Murphy Prototypes 6 Hours of Donington, ELMS Qualifying

Following a strong showing in inclement weather conditions during the Free Practice sessions at Donington Park for the 6-Hours ELMS race this weekend, Murphy Prototypes made a small set-up change to the car for the qualifying session. Jody Firth took to the track for young Irish squad in the LMP2 category and brought the #18 Oreca-Nissan home in P8 at the chequered flag. It was an incredibly tightly fought battle where only a second separated the top 8 on the provisional Qualifying classification time sheet.

Jody Firth

"We made a small set-up change this afternoon to try to draw more Qualifying speed out of the car, but it had the opposite effect and made the car worse than in FP3. On a positive note we obviously know what the set-up was for practice and can revert the car back to have very good race pace. It was a frustrating qualifying session for me though as I could not attack on the track, and although we were only a second off pole it is still a little disappointing. We know our race set-up is faster and we have a strong driver line-up, so we are looking forward to getting back up to speed and will concentrate on the long race tomorrow."

Greg Murphy, Murphy Prototypes Founder

"We were in race-set up for the free practice sessions here at Donington and only made one small change for Qualifying but it produced quite an adverse result. However, we are not worried at all as we shall be fighting from start tomorrow and its a long race, so watch this space."
