Blanckley joins Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge GB at Croft

Simon Blanckley will take time out from running the sibsport performance team in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB to race in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge GB at his home track of Croft (North Yorkshire) this weekend (21/22 July).Blanckley is running Tania Mann in the Carrera Cup this season but will return to the driving seat this weekend and plans to complete the GT3 Cup Challenge season with further outings at Donington Park and Silverstone. His sibsport performance team, meanwhile, will resume its Carrera Cup programme at Snetterton on 11/12 August.The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is managed by Porsche Cars GB alongside the Carrera Cup GB and is growing as the season develops, with steadily building competitor interest. The series gained championship status this year for the six-event, 12-race season and is for the cars from 2009 or before, including the 996-model cars from up to 2006.Newcastle-upon-Tyne racer Blanckley says that the chance to race a 911 GT3 Cup car at Croft was too good a chance to miss. His last race was a victory at Spa-Francorchamps last October. Back in 2007, he had a season racing in the BTCC and knows the Croft track well.Im really looking forward to getting back out and Im hoping to do the rest of the GT3 Cup Challenge season, said Blanckley. I thoroughly enjoy driving these cars and Croft is my home track.As well as increasing its presence in the Carrera Cup GB, sibsport performance is also keen to run cars in the GT3 Cup Challenge.
