Organisers of September's Grand Prix of Baltimore Indycar series race have announced a trio of new sponsors.
Sunoco has become the official fuel of the event, which takes place on a street circuit in the city, with branding rights over victory lane and the pit-lane. Estimates suggest that deal may be worth some US$75,000 to the event.
Dr Pepper Ten is the new offcial soft drink partner, while Giant Food has become the event's official grocery store partner. The Saturday of the race meeting will henceforth be known as Dr Pepper Ten/Giant day.
Each of the three companies have signed multi-year deals with Andretti Sports Marketing, the company formed by former Indycar driver and current team owner Michael Andretti which runs the event, and local company Race On LLC.
Race On has a five-year contract with Indycar to host the event after taking over from another promtional company Baltimore Racing Development which ran the inaugural race last year before falling into financial difficulties. Commercial deals have had to be renegotiated as a consequence.
This year's Grand Prix of Baltimore is scheduled for 2nd September. The race was hugely popular last year with an estimated 110,000 ticket sales.
