Polish Superbike Championship leader Marko Jerman put his GRANDys duo Suzuki GSX-R1000 on the podium at the weekend's fifth round of the series at Most in the Czech Republic under treacherous weather conditions.
In contrast to Saturday's dry qualification, Jerman and reigning Polish and Alpe Adria Champion Andy Meklau - who set Pole Position on Saturday - were forced to take evading action to avoid crashing into a fallen rider just after the Superbike start; and both riders spent the rest of the race catching up to finish third and fourth respectively.
In the Superstock 1000 class, Meklau suffered a broken gear level while leading and had to pull-in, returning to the action a lap adrift of the leaders, but still managing to catch-up to 15th position, but team mate Bartek Wiczynski fought hard in an exciting battle to finish in seventh place.
In the Supersport class, with favourite Daniel Bukowski absent due to injury, team mate Szymon Strankowski grabbed 12th position after the race was red-flagged after nine laps.
Jacek Grandys - Team Manager:
"Today was very difficult day. Besides of the weather, our ally wasn't technique that deprived us winning in the Superstock 1000. The situation in overall classification became horrible and it will be difficult to catch up to Michal Filla, but we will fight to the end. I'm proud of Szymon, who in difficult conditions handled it well; and if race wasn't interrupted he could have been in the top-10 in the Alpe Adria Championship.
"Marko took another step towards the Polish and Alpe Adria championships and I hope that by the end of the season he will have better luck. I also hope that the weather in Poznan will no longer disturb us and we will be able to win some races."
