Facu Regalia clinched another podium in the European F3 Open during yesterdays race at Paul Ricard. The Campos Racing driver, after his 3rd place in morning qualifying session, made a good start but he couldnt overtake Niccol Schir nor Gianmarco Raimondo.
Regalia was in the slipstream of Raimondo for the whole of the race , setting the fastest lap by the halfway point. However he couldnt pass them and ended up 3rd, a good results for his chances in the championship.
My start was good, but both Schir and Raimondo didnt make any mistakes. My car performance was good and, while they were very fast at the beginning, I got stronger lap by lap. At the end I was closer than ever to Raimondo, eight tenths behind, but I couldnt try pass him because my car was suffering from understeer in the slipstream. I think my race pace was slightly faster, but not enough to overtake him. This podium is a good result and rewards our hard work, Regalia said. For todays race, the young Argentine driver is aiming for another good qualifying session. RP Motorsports drivers are quite strong here, but I am being his closest rival this weekend. My goal is to improve my 3rd on the starting grid, and then considering our chances for Sundays race.
