AT THE END OF A POSITIVE DAY AT CREMONA, THE ROME-BASED SQUAD LOOKS FORWARD TO MORE SUCCESS WITH THEIR ALL-NEW RACECAR
A brand-new racer is about to made its world debut in SUPERSTARS. Prepared by the Varese-based Top Run Engineering for Roma Racing Team, the Mercedes C63 AMG Coup has joined the top V8 competition by breaking cover for the first time and adding another 500+ horsepower star to the already impressive championship's roster.
"We would have loved to make it debut earlier - told driver and team owner Nico Caldarola - but unfortunately some of the car's components, which were specifically built for the very first time, took more time than expected to be developed. The car has the same engine of the saloon, a 543-horsepower, 6.3-liter Mercedes AMG V8, but the real difference is in its chassis which is stiffer and has a lower centre of gravity. Our goal is to race with this car in the next round of SUPERSTARS and we look forward to start from an higher point in terms of performance compared to the 4-door version".
The car's first test session was held today near Cremona at the new San Martino del Lago circuit. While the team's staff was impressed by the performance, the people on-track were stunned by its looks, enhanced by the new livery with yellow as the base colour with black and red stripes. From a technical standpoint, the car also received a new gearbox developed by Modena Racing Gears, electronics by Motec and an Ohlins suspension set-up.
"It's been really exciting to take it on-track - continued Caldarola - In addition to the fact that is spectacular to watch, our new C63 Coup proved fast straight out of the box despite we still haven't reached the 100% mark in terms of development. We logged about 30 laps and I was particularly impressed by its centre of gravity, which is totally different from the sedan model I raced so far. It has an extremely high potential and now it's up to us to take full advantage of it in order to hit the top soon".
