British competition debut of Le Mans winning Audi R18 e-tron quattro
In one months time (Sunday 26 August), Silverstone hosts Round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship marking the competitive dbut of the Le Mans 24 Hour race winning Audi R18 e-tron quattro in Britain.One diesel hybrid R18 e-tron quattro plus a conventional diesel-engined R18 ultra will feature in the six-hour race staged on the Northamptonshire venues 3.67-mile Grand Prix circuit amongst the anticipated near 40-car entry.Britains factory Audi Sport driver Allan McNish and co-driver Tom Kristensen (Den) start the Silverstone race leading the eight-race WEC by 6.5pts from team-mates Marcel Fssler (CH), Andr Lotterer (D) and Benot Trluyer (F) the winning trio of the Le Mans 24 Hours for the past two years.McNish and Kristensen will drive a R18 ultra with Fssler, Lotterer and Trluyer in the R18 e-tron quattro at Silverstone.Practice for the annual race will be staged on Friday (24 August) with qualifying for grid places on Saturday (25 August). The race begins on Sunday at 12 noon
