Sykes heads combined WSB qualifying

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) will enter the Tissot-Superpole qualifying session later today as the leader of combined qualifying after finishing well ahead of his closest challenger, last year's pole man John Hopkins (FIXI Crescent Suzuki) in a rain-affected second session.

Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) was third quickest but home-grown talent once more rose to the top when FIXI Crescent Suzuki rider Leon Camier finishing inside the top four. Reigning champion Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) is fifth, thanks to his Friday time, and second top Ducati was new Pata Team rider Sylvain Guintoli, in sixth.
