Oulton Return Promises Top Porsche Club Action

The Porsche Club Championship returns to Oulton Park for a second time this season on Saturday August 11th with another two 25-minute races, and if they live up the quality of the action seen at the Cheshire circuit in June then they will be races not to be missed! Reigning champion Mark Sumpter took both wins at that meeting, but neither was an easy win, Sumpter only taking the lead at Knickerbook on the final lap of race two.

The driver to lose out in both races was Pete Morris, who had a throttle problem while leading in the first race, then spun out of the lead after a Safety Car period in the second. Morris has his season back on track after two wins at Croft in July, and will be keen to do well this weekend having destroyed his 968 CS in a first lap incident at this meeting last season.

The battle for overall victory has been a close one, with Mark McAleer winning at Donington to give the 996 C2 model its first win in the series, while Ben Demetriou did the same for the Boxster S at Brands Hatch. A consistent podium finisher has been ex-BTCC racer Mark Proctor, who will be keen to take his first win and currently leads Class One on points.

Mobberly-based Marcus Carniel is Demetrious team-mate in the Hartech line-up of Boxsters, and will be eager to go well at his local circuit, while Chris Dyer has been the best of the 968 CS runners. Dyers Strasse team-mate Richard Ellis took a win in his 993 C2 at Donington, while another to watch will be Andy Purdie, who had a rare off in his first visit to Oulton earlier this year.

The tight battle in Class One has seen Paul Folletts Class Two consistency pay off with the overall points lead. Four class wins has put him clear in the points, but Alex Eacock has taken two wins and at Croft Brian Robinson returned to the series and pushed Follett hard in his 968 CS.

Qualifying for the Porsche Club Championship runners is at 08.30 on Saturday morning, with the races at 11.40 and 16.55.
