Pirelli podium sweep on Scottish Speyside Stages

The top three winning crews competing on last weekends Speyside Stages, round six of the MSA Scottish Rally Championship, were equipped with Pirellis highly competitive KM6 tyres.

Euan Thorburn and co-driver Paul Beaton pipped reigning Scottish and British rally champions, David Bogie and Kevin Rae, to the post with their second victory of the year. Thorburn, piloting a Pirelli-equipped Ford Focus RS WRC, finished the 10-stage event 26 seconds ahead of Bogie who was also using Pirelli KM6 tyres. Jock Armstrong finished third in his Pirelli-equipped Subaru Impreza, only one second adrift of Bogie.

Another two results like this would do, but it's been a fair pace all day, with David and Jock fighting hard as well, so I'm delighted to get the win, said rally winner Thorburn at the finish in Elgin.

Elsewhere, Keith Robathon took the spoils in the two-wheel-drive category at the wheel of a Ford Escort Mk2 on Pirelli GM6 tyres.

Matthew Corby, Pirelli UK motorsport operations manager, commented: The entry list for the sixth round of the Scottish Rally Championship was very impressive, and I am delighted that out of 70 classified finishers, the top three finishing crews were all using Pirellis KM6 tyres. It is also fantastic to hear that new GM6 tyre helped Robathon claim a victory in the 2WD category. Pirellis KM6 and GM6 tyres have provided several drivers with an advantage in the Scottish Rally Championship this year and this has been reflected in a series of top results over the weekend, including victories in both the 4WD and 2WD categories.

The penultimate round of this years Scottish Rally Championship will take place at Wigtown for the Broll Merrick Stages (1 September).
