Seb Morris has received a major boost to his burgeoning track career after today, Thursday, 9th August, being named a British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) Rising Starone of the most prestigious junior accolades in UK motorsport.Im really honoured to have been named a Rising Starits a special feeling being part of the most elite motorsport club in the world, I cant thank the BRDC enough, said the 16-year-old, Its great knowing the people at the BRDC have spotted talent and potential in me, Im really proud to represent the club and Im focused on repaying such fantastic support which is huge for my career.Welshman Seb, from Marford near Wrexham, has enjoyed a tremendously successful maiden season in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship so far in 2012 with three race wins, two fastest laps and five pole positions. Prior to his graduation to single-seater racing this year, the talented youngster was the dominant force in the Ginetta Junior Championship. First making history by winning the 2010 Winter Series title aged just 14-years-old, Seb followed that up with a memorable main season championship win last yearultimately resulting in him becoming an ambassador for Leeds-based Ginetta Cars. After being named the WRDA Welsh Young Driver of the Year last November and then becoming part of the Motor Sports Association (MSA) Academy earlier this year, the invitation to now be one of the BRDCs Rising Stars has further enhanced the aspiring Formula One drivers ambitions. Its great to have the BRDC acknowledge Ive been able to take forward the talent I showed in saloons in Ginetta Junior and translate that successfully to single-seaters, added Seb, Being part of the Rising Stars is a real boost to my future career. His next track action will come little over a week from now when rounds 10, 11 and 12 of the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship season take place at Donington Park. Although two enforced retirements, neither of which were Sebs fault, have impacted the Fortec Motorsports drivers points tally he remains third in the championship standings prior to the penultimate race meeting of 2012.While the gap to the top of the table is significant, 73 points to be exact, with each driver needing to drop one result from their final total and with a maximum of 170 points still available there is much to play for over the final five races.Im going out there to try and win as many races as I can before the end of the season, I know we have the pace and theres no pressure at all, said the teenager, Donington is probably my favourite track, other than Oulton Park, so Im really looking forward to next weekend.Qualifying for rounds 10, 11 and 12 will get underway at 10.30 on Saturday, 18th August, with the first of the weekends Protyre Formula Renault BARC races following at 15.50. Races two and three will be contested on Sunday, 19th August, at 11.50 and 16.50 respectively.Provisional 2012 Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship Driver Standings (after Rd9):3rd Seb Morris, 161pts
