Comeback for Mhlner with Chevrolet Camaro and Roland Asch in DAC GT Masters

Mhlner Motorsport to make guest appearance in ADAC GT Masters Sports car star Oliver Gavin and Roland Asch share Camaro cockpit

Surprising comeback for Mhlner Motorsport in the ADAC GT Masters: Mhlner Motorsport led by Renate-Carola and Bernhard Mhlner return to the Super Sports Car League for the one and only Austrian fixture on the calendar - the Red Bull Ring on the weekend of 10th - 12th August. The Belgian team (based at Spa-Francorchamps) is entering a Chevrolet Camaro. To drive the American muscle car, Bernhard Mhlner has signed up two well-known names: sports car star Oliver Gavin (39, GB) will be partnering touring car legend Roland Asch (61, Ammerbuch). Test mission for the Camaro in Styria "Sareni United, developers of the racing version of the Chevrolet Camaro, asked us whether we were interested in trying out the Camaro," says Bernhard Mhlner, explaining the background to the decision. "Our main priority for this season, the FIA GT1 World Championship, has been subject to some changes and postponements, so we had the capacity at very short notice for a guest start in the ADAC GT Masters. The Camaro is an interesting car, and we have a long and very successful history with General Motors products. Essentially, our guest appearance at the Red Bull Ring is a test run, and we will be fascinated to see how the Camaro performs." For the trial run with the U.S. steam hammer, Bernhard Mhlner has recruited a sensational driver line-up that is sure to delight the Austrian fans. Established Chevrolet works driver Oliver Gavin will share the Camaro with touring car legend Roland Asch. This will be Gavin's first venture into the ADAC GT Masters. The Englishman comes hot foot from the United States where he posted a win in the American Le Mans Series last weekend to take the lead in the GT classification. Former DTM driver Asch, father of Sebastian Asch (26, Ammerbuch) who is currently third in the ADAC GT Masters standings, contested last year's race at the Red Bull Ring and has so far competed in the Super Sports Car League eight times. Mhlner Motorsport is one of the most successful teams in the ADAC GT Masters. Between 2008 and 2011, the Belgian outfit scored five wins and claimed the 2008 drivers' title with Tim Bergmeister.
