Fifth place start for Honda TT Legends at Oschersleben

Following the second qualifying session at round four of the Endurance World Championship at Oschersleben in Germany, the Honda TT Legends will begin todays eight-hour race from fifth on the grid. John McGuinness, Cameron Donald and Jason OHalloran once again took to the 3.7km circuit for one 30-minute stint each. While yesterday it was McGuinness who stole the show, today it was OHallorans turn. The young Australian posted an impressive lap of 1:27.568fourth quickest in his group, while a determined Donald also managed to improve his time. The new combined average of each riders best lap from both qualifying sessions (1:28.053) leaves the Honda TT Legends fifth on the grid. SERT will start the race from pole ahead of BMW Motorrad France, YART and Yamaha GMT 94. Russell Benneyrace managerWere fifth again but the very good news is that it was a far sharper performance. Were much closer to GMT in front of us and were pulling away from Bolliger behind us, which was our intention. Through this week weve worked very hard to just sharpen up to give us that outcome and to that extent it has been a success. Jason and Cam both did a good job today to improve their times and were now looking forward to the race tomorrow. John McGuinness I seemed to get caught in a lot of traffic today and it didnt go as well as yesterday, but with Jason and Cams improved times and mine from yesterday weve upped our average and closed the gap a bit on our rivals so thats good. Now were just looking ahead to the race. Weve got a good set up, weve done some good work with Dunlop on tyres and weve had no issues with the bike at all so were all ready to go. As we always say, anything can happen in eight hours so weve just got our sights set on the finish. Cameron Donald I went a bit quicker today, which Im pleased about and as a team were in a good position. Were gaining on the top four all the time and were definitely inching closer to where we want to be. When it comes to the race, its about good, steady consistent laps and we know we can do that so theres no reason why we cant get a good result. Jason OHalloranThe session was really good today. The biggest thing for me was the improvement I made on the race tyre, which puts us in a good place for tomorrow. I didnt get to use the best of the soft tyre because I just didnt get a good run again, but having said that I did do a good lap, just not a perfect lap. I tried hard at the end there and got a clear lap but the best of the tyre was finished. I think were in the best position weve been in all season and were not far off the front runners pace on race tyres, so as long as we all out our best forward I think well have a good day. The Oschersleben 8-hour race is part of the 15th German Speedweeka week-long motorcycling festival at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The race will begin at 14.00 (CET) on Saturday 11 August.
