Geddie gears up for Knockhill Porsche Carrera Cup

THE next 111 miles Glynn Geddie travels could prove to be the most important of his 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup campaign.

Thats the distance between his Aberdeen base and Knockhill racing circuit, the venue for his latest race this weekend.

Geddie, the reigning British GT champion, has suffered a challenging Carrera Cup charge but remains optimistic of securing a morale boosting display in Fife.

The 22-year-old had set his sights on clinching the championship, but concedes his hopes of glory are fading fast.

However, Geddie is refusing to let a year blighted by mechanical failure and disappointment completely overshadow hisseason.

In many respects I almost want this year to be over as quickly as possible, he said.

Its always easy to make excuses but Ive genuinely almost been hit with every imaginable issue possible.

Theres no getting away from the fact my confidence has taken a dent but Ive never been the type to dwell on things too much.

Knockhill is my home circuit so understandably Im even more fired up to really perform there this weekend and thered be no better place than to transform my fortunes than there.

Geddie, who has also been competing in the Porsche SuperCup this season, has already identified wholl be one of the drivers to beat this weekend.

He added: It would be even more rewarding to end my run of disappointing form in Fife in front of home support but its going to be far from easy.

Rory Butcher will be one of the drivers to really beat this weekend as hes one of the regular Knockhill instructors so will know every bump on the course.

Ive not raced there in a competitive environment for two years now so that could make things even trickier.

The new kerbs have been installed on the track since then too so therell be lots for me to get to grips with. Ill need to adapt pretty quickly.
