A new, young and talented racer is about to make his way to the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES. Italian 22-year-old Michele Faccin hit the track for the first time yesterday aboard a Lexus ISF prepared by the MRT by Nocentini team. Faccin drove the car for team owner Mauro Nocentini in an one-day test at the Franciacorta track, close to Brescia.
For Faccin, the MRT Lexus was an immediate fit: despite his young age, the Padova-based driver has a long standing experience in open-wheel racing. After enjoying a successful karting stint, he raced in Formula Azzurra and Formula Renault (ending up as a runner-up in the Italian Championship in 2008) before moving to Formula 3. More recently, he raced in the Mgane Trophy Eurocup, and also drove a Ferrari in the GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES.
The Italian squad decided to stay focused on SUPERSTARS, as the FG GROUP-promoted series continues to stand out in terms of number of manufacturers represented on-track (Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jaguar, Lexus, Maserati and Mercedes).I think I can be quite satisfied at the moment - told Nocentini - despite we hit some assembly troubles. The car, thoroughly modified in the last few months, responded well. Our Lexus have always been fast, but last year we were constantly facing electronic issues that should be no longer there thanks to the team's hard work. This test showed that we are working in the right direction, and next week we'll hit the track at Vallelunga to push even harder. I strongly believe in the success of SUPERSTARS and I look forward to field two ISF racecars in 2013.
I'm really proud to have become part of the SUPERSTARS world - said Faccing - first I want to thank Mauro Nocentini for giving me this opportunity. This shakedown enabled me to understand the car better. It's really fast and the torque is also outstanding. I made my debut in GT racing two years ago in GTSPRINT, with a Ferrari 430 a couple of years ago and I had noticed the great job done by FG GROUP in terms of promotion. For me, SUPERSTARS will represent a great occasion and a step forward in my professional career.
