Swiss racer sets pace during F2s first visit to Budapest track
Swiss racer Christopher Zanella ended on top during todays (Thursday) Formula Two pre-event test at the Hungaroring.
The 22-year-old, who currently lies third in the drivers standings, put in a stunning lap late in the final sun-soaked session to finish ahead of fellow countryman Alex Fontana. Romanian Mihai Marinescu, competing on his adopted home circuit, finished third overall closely followed by Kevin Mirocha and Markus Pommer.
The official test, ahead of rounds 13 and 14 this weekend, also saw the debut for Slovakian newcomer Richard Gonda with the 18-year-old impressing all day to end sixth.
Matho Tuscher finished seventh from Dino Zamparelli with championship leader Luciano Bachetaone year on since his barrel crash here in GP3only managing ninth. Daniel McKenzie completed the top 10 and a trio of Brits.
