SUPERSTARS Francesco Sini,Chevrolet Lumina, tops Vallelunga test

TEAM DURANGO LINES-UP TWO BMWs FOR BERTON, DURANTE

A one-day SUPERSTARS test was held at Vallelunga and although a late shower conditioned the activities, some new faces lined-up on the last  5th of September. The racetrack close to Rome will be the next venue in-line for the championship, which will re-fire on October 6 and 7.

The fresh new addition of the day, lining-up with two BMW M3 E92 racecars, has been team Durango. The Veneto-based team brought on-track Giovanni Berton (who went for an early shakedown in July at Cremona) and Swiss Davide Durante.

It's been their first time on-track as an initial approach looking forward to enter SUPERSTARS starting from the next round. The team is also aiming for a full-time run in 2013. We can say we're really satisfied - told Berton, who proved fast in 1'44"912 - despite both my team-mate and I did not put new tires on because of the wet weather in the last segment. Durante was also forced to miss the first morning session due to a fuel pump issue.

The fastest laptime of the day was clocked by Francesco Sini, who lapped in 1'42"'54 with his Chevrolet Lumina. The Abruzzo-based racer, fielded by Solaris Motorsport, appeared extremely satisfied with his racecar's development, which included a revised differential set-up. The Swiss-based squad also welcomed Finn Antti Buri (who had cruised to a double podium at Spa-Francorchamps in the GTSprint International Series) and experienced Simone Iacone, who shared the second car.

The new Mercedes C63 AMG Coup of Roma Racing Team also went back on-track, shared by Team Owner Nico Caldarola and Luca Rangoni.

Unfortunately, due to the rain, we could only run two and an half session of the four scheduled - said Caldarola - too few to improve the car that is still needing tracktime in terms of balancing and weight balancing. Nonetheless, we tested new shocks and we'll be back to continue the job here at Vallelunga on the next 21st of September.
