Exciting battles for aabar Abu Dhabi Villorba in GT Open Race 1 at the Hungaroring

‏Behind the wheel of their Ferrari 458 Montermini and Lopez were stars at Budapest in the sixth round of the 2012 GT Open, and after 70 minutes of a very tough and close race they secured a very important position in fourth place for the championship. Race-2 will be broadcasted live at 12:55 in Italy by RaiSport2 and Primocanale

It was a very exciting and tough race-1 in the sixth round of the International GT Open for the aabar Abu Dhabi Villorba racing with Ferrari Team in Budapest. The Italian squad led by Raimondo Amadio came in fourth place with race drivers Andrea Montermini and Juan Manuel Lopez behind the wheel of their Ferrari 458 of Super GT class, only 27 from the lead despite the high handicap of 15 seconds for the excellent results in the last few races.

At the Hungaroring, this afternoon Montermini had a good start from fourth on the grid and caught on. After several attempts for the podium positions at half race the former F.1 driver from Modena left the wheel of the powerful supercar from Maranello to the young Argentine teammate during the mandatory pit-stop for driver change. The handicap showed in the pits and forced Lopez to recover in a very tough race that all the championship contenders finished in a three-second gap under the chequered flag. Attracting the attention of the cameras for most laps, the exciting battles and overtaking by Montermini and Lopez allowed the aabar Abu Dhabi Villorba to score valuable points in the championship making the second race of the Hungarian weekend to become even more crucial. Tomorrow's race-2 will start at 12:55 with Montermini-Lopez in the second row of the grid again. The event will be broadcasted live in Italy by RaiSport2 and Primocanale.

We are happy and satisfied for this result - says Raimondo Amadio, Team Principal -: the target we set for race-1 was reached. Our drivers led a very intelligent race without taking unnecessary risks but every opportunity to bring home more points. The car was very fast and in the end, after a great overtaking by Lopez in the last lap, we secured a position that could help us for race-2, which now we have to prepare well to complete the job. It will not be easy, of course, because tomorrow the race will be tough and very close again. That is why we are already at work. We will give our best."
