Fifth for Johnny Blackshaw in Donington Park Supersatock race

Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw riding for Smiths Triumph gained another solid result at Donington Park this weekend. In the late summer conditions Johnny took a solid fifth place in the Metzeler National Superstock race.

After a few difficult race weekends, Johnny wanted to get a good result at one of his favourite circuits on the BSB calendar. Johnny struggled to find a set up during the Friday practice and qualifying sessions but was able to turn this around during second qualifying and put the Smiths Triumph in fifth place on the grid for the scheduled 14-lap race.

In the race Johnny got a good start and held his grid position of fifth after lap one, and despite running with the leaders and creating a gap between fifth and sixth place he was unable to gain the speed he needed to make a solid pass for a podium place. He was passed by Alex Olsen but he soon made a pass on Jimmy Rose and fought home for fifth place at the end of the race which was cut short on lap nine after an incident at the Old Hairpin.

Johnny - "It's been a tough year this year and I've had a bit of bad luck which seems to have always affected me on race day. I wanted to get my head down this weekend and get a good result for myself and the Smiths Triumph team. We were struggling a bit on Friday but we made a few adjustments for qualifying on Saturday and things seemed much better. I'm a little bit disappointed with fifth but it's some good Championship points and hopefully I can achieve some strong results at the last two races of the year. I hope Accident Advice Solicitors enjoyed their day at Donington and thank them for all their support this year."
