Giancarlo Fisichella set for SUPERSTARS debut

ON THE 7TH OF OCTOBER AT VALLELUNGA, ABOARD A MASERATI QUATTROPORTE

A NEW STAR TO LINE UP AT HIS HOME TRACK ALONGSIDE THE CHAMPIONSHIP'S FRONTRUNNERS, INCLUDING LIUZZI, MORBIDELLI, BIAGI.

A new challenge is set for some great former Formula One Champions. The upcoming Round 7 of the 2012 SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES at Vallelunga will welcome Giancarlo Fisichella, a veteran of 231 starts in the top open-wheel competition and currently lined-up as Ferrari factory driver in GT racing. He will be driving a Maserati Quattroporte fielded by Maserati Corse's Swiss Team.

The Rome-based racer will rejoin his former team-mate Tonio Liuzzi, who's currently leading in standings with a CAAL Racing-prepared, manufacturer-supported Mercedes C63 AMG, Gianni Morbidelli, running for Audi Sport Italia on the same Audi RS5 that brought him to two sensational double wins at Donington Park and Spa-Francorchamps, and 2010 Champion Thomas Biagi, who will try to regain the crown with the Team Dinamic BMW M3.

Vallelunga will also be a perfect frame for a showdown between the international stars of the championship, starting from young Johan Kristoffersson (Audi Sport KMS). The Swedish driver, a revelation so far this season, is now leading the 2012 Rookie of the Year standings. The possible comeback of Indonesian Ananda Mikola, a well-known name in open-wheel racing, might also be a factor in the challenge, like for Thomas Schoeffler, the young top-10 runner of Audi Sport by MTM Motorsport and Camilo Zurcher, coming from Bogot, who will be aiming at the podium after having been a major force to deal with at the Hungaroring.

Being in SUPERSTARS is a new challenge for me - said Fisichella - the Maserati has already proved winning last year with Andrea Bertolini and it would be great to be equally competitive right from the start at Vallelunga, as it will be an unique chance for me. Being able to race at my home circuit, a few kilometers away from home, will be an additional motivation to chase victory in front of many friends and the fans joining us on-track. It won't be easy because Mercedes, Audi and BMW will be tough to tame, but I am going to do my very best.

The arrival of "Fisico" is another great addition to the full line-up of stars of 2012 which included Mika Salo, who's considered one of the best northern European talents of Formula 1, Brazilian Christian Fittipaldi, who ran in 40 F.1 races, British ace Johnny Herbert, with 160 starts under his belts and young Austrian Christian Klien, who entered four F.1 seasons and 49 Grand Prix races.

A new ace of motorsports is ready to challenge the SUPERSTARS champions. An additional reason for fans to follow an incredibly exciting final stint of the season and to be on the grandstands of a racetrack that welcomed a record-high crowd of 28.000 last season.
