The seventh and final ADAC Masters Weekend of the 2012 season is almost here. The most exciting ADAC GT Masters finale ever will take place at the Hockenheimring. Seven drivers representing four manufacturers have a chance of winning the title, and not until the final races at Hockenheim are over will new champions be crowned in the partner series: Formel ADAC, ATS Formel-3-Cup and MINI TROPHY. The ADAC PROCAR series is the only one in which the titles have already been decided ahead of the final weekend. Sunday's big championship celebrations will round off the ADAC Masters Weekend's successful fourth year in fitting style. The most exciting final races in the history of the ADAC GT Masters: who will win the title in the League of Super Sports Cars will not be finally resolved until the last two races of the season. Corvette, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW ALPINA - four manufacturers all fighting for top honours. Championship leaders Diego Alessi/Daniel Keilwitz are seven points clear in the run-up to the last two races of the year. Porsche driver Christian Engelhart lies ready to pounce behind the Corvette duo. Mercedes-Benz drivers Sebastian Asch and Maximilian Gtz are just nine points down on the championship leaders. These two title contenders are already something of a novelty: for the first time ever in the ADAC GT Masters championship, a pair of drivers has a chance of success without having achieved a single outright victory this season. Reigning champion Dino Lunardi, who co-drives a BMW ALPINA B6 with Maxime Martin is 18 points behind Alessi/Keilwitz and is not yet out of contention in the title race. Lunardi could become the first driver in the history of the series to successfully defend his title. The battle for the team title is also still wide open at the Hockenheim finale. Fans at the Hockenheimring can expect to see the most exciting closing races in the history of the Formel ADAC; the title decider in the Formel ADAC academy has never been so close. Gustav Malja leads the championship by only two points on Marvin Kirchhfer with just three more races still to come. The ADAC Sports Foundation protg had an almost perfect weekend two weeks ago at the Nrburgring, taking 23 points out of the championship leader with two wins and three podium finishes. Malja also secured two podium finishes but suffered a setback in the final race in the Eifel where he was unable to do better than seventh place after receiving a penalty. If Kirchhfer wins this thrilling title battle, then he will be the first driver ever to win the Formel ADAC championship in his debut year, apart from Armando Parente, of course, who won the series opener in 2008. ATS Formel-3-Cup New champion will be crowned at Hockenheimring Rookie Lucas Auer with title chance on paper
The conclusion to the ATS Formel-3-Cup could hardly have turned out better, since the finale at the Hockenheimring will decide the new champion. Jimmy Eriksson is the main title contender. There are three final races to be contested and the experienced Swedish driver is three points away from a championship triumph. Lucas Auer prevented an early resolution to the title fight two weeks ago at the Nrburgring and still has at least a theoretical chance in his debut season of claiming the title in Germany's fastest single-seater series. The nephew of ex-Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger is in second place overall with 268 points but has to fend off Kimiya Sato from Japan and Australian Mitchell Gilbert, who are each on 245 points and within striking distance. The champions in Division 1, Jens Weimann, and Division 2, Guido Thierfelder, have already been decided, but nevertheless, fans can still look forward to two exciting ADAC PROCAR races at the traditional season finale in Hockenheim, since a thrilling three-way battle for Division 2 runner-up is in prospect. There are three contenders for the coveted spot behind new champion Thierfelder - Nils Mierschke, Ralf Glatzel and Lennart Marioneck. Everything is set fair for a thrilling championship finale in the MINI TROPHY and the final two races of the season at the Hockenheimring will decide the title. Jrgen Schmarl leads the overall standings, 28 points clear of closest rival Thomas Teekat. With a total of 63 points still to be allocated, Ralf Martin, who is 40 points adrift, also has a mathematical chance of title success in the Lifestyle one-make trophy. Three lady drivers are also fighting it out for points, Stephanie Halm, Victoria Fross and Cora Schumacher, wife of ex-Formula 1 and current DTM driver Ralf Schumacher.
