Lloyd and Tordoff announced as KX Akademy finalists
Porsche Carrera Cup GB racers Daniel Lloyd and Sam Tordoff received a major boost to their 2013 racing plans when they were announced as two of the 12 finalists for the KX Akademy.Lloyd has already been confirmed as the recipient of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship for a second season in 2013, which includes a cash injection of 80,000 towards his seasons budget. For 2013, the Carrera Cup Scholarship has been extended to be a two-year programme and so Lloyd is the first driver to enjoy continued support into a second season.Meanwhile, three-time race winner Tordoff has also been shortlisted for the KX Akademy, created and overseen by touring car star Jason Plato, which will give up to six young drivers significant financial support for 2013. As two of 12 drivers shortlisted, Lloyd and Tordoff now hope to be selected within the final six. This is fantastic news for me, said Lloyd. Already having the Carrera Cup Scholarship for 2013 is a massive boost for my career, but I still need to work hard to find the balance of the budget. To get an opportunity like this with the KX Akademy is great news. Its very good to have been selected to go into the final stages, said Tordoff. Raising a racing budget is never easy and this a real boost for me.The 12 KX Akademy finalists will go through an evaluation process next month to whittle them down to the final six, who will all receive a significant contribution to their 2013 racing budgets.
