aabar Abu Dhabi Villorba racing with Ferrari Team fights in the rain at Monza

Behind the wheel of their Ferrari 458 Montermini and Lopez clinch a fifth position in race-1 of the seventh round of the International GT Open and promise to fight back in tomorrow's race-2, scheduled at 13:30 with live coverage in Italy on RaiSport2, Primocanale and Tele Ticino

Monza (Italy), September 29th, 2012. It was a very exciting but also a very tricky race-1 of the seventh round of the International GT Open for the aabar Abu Dhabi Villorba racing with Ferrari Team at Monza. In changing weather condition (wet, dry and wet again) the Italian squad led by Raimondo Amadio took a stunning front row in qualifyng with a superb Andrea Montermini behind the wheel of the Ferrari 458 of the Super GT class finally finishing the race in fifth position together with his team-mate Juan Manuel Lopez.

At the legendary Monza circuit Montermini made a good start from second on the grid showing a very fast pace in the wet and when leaving the wheel of the supercar from Maranello to Lopez after half race. Because of the higher handicap to pay in the pits for the mandatory driver-change the aabar Abu Dhabi Villorba crew was back on track on fourth place and forced to a defensive strategy due to the changing weather conditions. Tomorrow's race-2 will start at 13:30. The event will be broadcasted live in Italy by RaiSport2, Primocanale and Tele Ticino.

"We faced a difficult race where, given the conditions, we had to defense ourselves - says Raimondo Amadio, Team Principal -. Now we want to fight back in tomorrow's race."

"Despite the very difficult conditions - says Montermini - we did well in the first part of the race and we were planning to attack. The weather changes obviously have compromised every strategy.
