Lowes quickest in Silverstone Superbike warm up

WFR Honda's Alex Lowes continued to put the pressure on his title rivals by topping this morning's warm up session at Silverstone. Lowes moved to the top of the times with three minutes remaining to push Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki's Chris Walker to second, whilst Supersonic BMW's Tommy Bridewell made big steps forward to break into the top five for the first time this weekend in third.

Buildbase BMW's Barry Burrell had been fastest in the opening minutes but ended fourth ahead of Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes who bids to extend his championship lead this afternoon. Robbin Harms was sixth despite a crash at Brooklands on his final lap but remained ahead of Peter Hickman and Michael Laverty. Jakub Smrz and Luca Scassa completed the top ten. Defending champion Tommy Hill was 16th.

Brookes' closest rival Shane 'Shakey' Byrne did not complete a lap in warm up this morning after a technical problem with the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.

Byrne said: "I was lazy this morning; I didn't even ride! We had a bit of technical issue; the bike was ready to go and it decided it just didn't want to play ball. The team have taken it apart and we have found some bits to change over to be on the safe side so I ended up being a spectator! We will be back out for the race though!"
