Lynch readies for Welsh weeekend

Tony Lynch will look to keep his Swift Sport Rallycross Championship aspirations alive this weekend when the Monster Energy MSA British Rallycross Championship heads to Pembrey for the penultimate meeting of the season. The Lucas Oil Team Geriatric driver makes the trip to South Wales sitting third in the championship standings but is just five points behind points leader Johny Bean having closed the gap last time out at Lydden Hill.Closing that gap came despite the Lydden weekend being far from straightforward for Tony, as a recent run of tough luck continued in the sixth round of the season.Eager to put his bad luck behind him, Tony will now aim for a second win of the season to close the gap to the Bean still further and with Pembrey being the penultimate meeting of the year, a strong showing is vital to championship bid.Weve had a rough spell in recent events but were still right in the mix for the championship as we go to Pembrey, he said. Ive won there in the past and it is vital that we have a good weekend this weekend. The championship cant be won at Pembrey, but if we have a bad meeting it could seriously damage our chances going into the final round, so I have to focus on staying out of trouble and bringing home the points. With only five points covering the top three, it is all to play for but Im confident about my chances. The boys have worked to make sure the car is fully prepared and perfect for the trip to Wales and now its down to me to get a result. As usual Ill be giving it 110 per cent and after the bad luck in the last two rounds, hopefully things will go my way.
