With still three races to go, Daniil Kvyat is the new Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS leader. In Mugello the Koiranen Motorsport driver seized his sixth season first place ruling in the first of the 2 weekend races after having also set the pole.
The Russian achieved his goal, finishing ahead of the French Norman Nato (RC Formula) who has now a six points gap from the leader. Other Frenchmen Paul-Loup Chatin (Tech1 Racing), third also in the overall standing, completed the podium.Good driving from the Italian Simone Iaquinta (Team Torino Motorsport), who scored his best 2012 result, finishing fourth just ahead of the Finn Patrick Kujala, him too racing for Koiranen Motorsport team. Very good results also for the Prema comeback with the sixth place by the rookie Luca Ghiotto. Bad luck instead for his teammate Bruno Bonifacio who spun in the early stages of the race and was prevented from a positive result. A bad start instead harmed the other Russian Egor Orudzhev race. He lined up with the AV Formula car, the Spanish team that made his absolute debut this weekend.
Kvyat managed to be the fastest after a perfect start from the first place on the grid. Behind him Nato and Chatin, with the latter closely chased by Bonifacio. With the Bonifacio spun at lap 4 at the Luco corner, it was Iaquinta turn to take over the top three chaser role being fifth after a positive start. Just behind him close fight also between Kujala and Ghiotto. Shame instead for Stefano De Val, ninth till the fourth lap before finishing wide and being forced to 15th.
Race 2 is scheduled, on the same distance (25 + 1 lap), for tomorrow at 14.50.
