MYERS 3RD IN AMA WEST SUPERSPORT SERIES

Team Suzuki SportbikeTrackGear.com rider Elena Myers captured third overall in the AMA Pro SuperSport West Series at NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans at the weekend with fifth and ninth-placed finishes.

Saturday's 15-lap race saw Myers get a top-10 start on her Suzuki GSX-R600 and settle into position. After getting her bearings, the Californian picked off the competition and moved up through the field, then with a few laps to go, she was in fifth place when a rider crashed and caused a red flag and the AMA stopped the race. On Sunday, Myers got another top-10 start and rode a smooth, conservative race to finish ninth.

Said Myers: "Overall I think it was a good weekend for me and for the Suzuki SportbikeTrackGear.com team. Unfortunately we had a little bit of bad luck and that cost me a possible podium finish on Saturday, but I felt strong all weekend and I feel like I'm in a good place with a couple of solid rides. Some of my strongest performances were in the last few rounds this year. The season just ended but I'm ready for next year and I can't thank everyone enough for being behind me and believing in me."

Although Myers officially contested the AMA Pro SuperSport West Series, she raced every event. She started the year strongly by capturing the win at one of the season-opening races at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida and went on to pick up three top-five finishes and 13 top-10 finishes.
