Jota Sport's hard work continues on Mazda MX-5 GT4

after successful development year

This years British GT Championship drew to a close at Donington Park on September 29, but for Jota Sport the hard work to further improve and develop its Mazda MX-5 GT4 in time for the 2013 campaign continues unabated.

The Kent-based squad has enjoyed a successful partnership with the Japanese manufacturer since it was commissioned to oversee the MX-5s Britcar programme back in 2010. This year its commitment stepped up a level with the MX-5 GT4.

Having been conceived and built by Jota Design in record time, the car scored a sensational podium finish at Brands Hatch in June. Second place at Snetterton underlined the Mazdas potential as Jota Sport continued to improve and hone it throughout the year. Now, with a season of development work behind them and further updates to come, the team is eager to hear from any drivers interested in racing an MX5-GT4 in next years British GT Championship.

But as well as running its own cars next season, Jota Sport has also made the MX-5 GT4 available to teams considering a junior sportscar entry of their own. Having shown excellent pace and much potential during its development season, the car represents an ideal package for privateers with the added peace of mind knowing Jota Sports renowned customer support is just a phone call away.

Sam Hignett, Jota Sport Team Principal: Its been a busy season for everyone at Jota Sport but the hard work doesnt stop here. I am hugely encouraged by the rate of development and progress the MX-5 GT4 has made since Mazda asked us to begin work in late 2011. We knew the car inside out from developing it into a successful Britcar contender, but it was still a substantial task to have a competitive GT4 car running by the second British GT round in May. Since then our engineers have been flat-out finding and adding extra performance.

2012 was always planned as a development year so to have scored two podiums against established GT4 machinery has been very satisfying. Considering on-track performance, serviceability and price the Mazda MX-5 GT4 is a very competitive all-round package for anyone evaluating an entry, be it in Britain or Europe, for next season.

Finally, I would like to thank all of our partners for their commitment during this first year of development. All completely understand what we have been trying to achieve, that race weekends were essentially extended test sessions and that the results would come in year two. That we have utterly exceeded our expectations is testament to their loyal support.

Jota Sports Mazda MX-5 GT4 programme is supported by Mazda Financial Services, SMH Fleet Solutions, Sparco, Total and Jota Aviation.
