An exclusive workshop for current and future drivers of 911 GT3 and GT3 Cup carsDrivers learn about the car and Michelin tyresTrack-day drivers learnt about the journey from track-day to racerThe Porsche Cars GB Motorsport team held a successful one-day workshop on Saturday (13 October) for current and potential future owners and racers of the iconic 911 and 911 GT3 Cup car. The Pitstop Clinic was an exclusive chance for interested drivers to meet the Porsche Motorsport GB team and learn about the technical intricacies of a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. The day included expert advice on how to set-up a Porsche 911 GT3 and analyse data to exploit the very limits of performance whilst on track. Experts from Michelin, official tyre supplier to Porsche Cars GB Motorsport, were in attendance to offer first hand advice about how to maximise tyre usage throughout a race weekend and in a track-day environment.Kam Parmer, a 911 track-day enthusiast said: It was a great opportunity to understand the mechanics of the car in more detail, particularly the gearbox. I enjoyed looking at the track telemetry and meeting the Carrera Cup GB engineers on a one-to-one basis to ask questions. Having Michelin there proved really interestingthey were very friendly and informative.For drivers new to racing, the workshop broke down the steps it takes to go from a track-day enthusiast into a Porsche racer with GT3 Cup Challenge GB driver, Steven Liquorish, giving his own first-hand advice.Sarah Franklin, a prospective future racer in the Porsche GT3 Cup car said: The Porsche Pitstop Clinic was a great day, showing what fantastic support Porsche shows for all of its series. It was extremely informative and gave everyone the opportunity to see parts of the cars that you wouldn't ordinarily see such as the internals of the gearbox. I would definitely recommend the clinic to anyone who is interested in finding out more about the GT3 Cup Challenge series.
