POOLE No.1 Darcy Ward will miss key matches for the Pirates including the Elite League Grand Final after being hospitalised at the weekend.Ward was involved in an off-track incident and his place is to be taken by Kings Lynns Danish star Niels-Kristian Iversen, who steps in as a guest. Chris Holder is set to ride against Swindon on Monday despite suffering an ankle injury whilst racing in Poland on Sunday.Poole promoter Matt Ford said: It has been a terrible weekend. Our thoughts have been entirely with Darcy who was left in a poor way on Friday after being attacked.Clearly his absence is going to leave a big dent in the team's spirits at a time when we have some key meetings to race. I am indebted to Niels for stepping in at this crunch time for the club at such short notice.(SPEEDWAY 2)
SCUNTHORPE have booked former Somerset rider Sam Masters as a guest for the Premier League play-off Final against the Rebels.Masters is set to step in for injured Dane Thomas Jorgensen, although his appearance at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday is dependant upon possible Knockout Cup commitments for his Elite League club Poole.Scorpions boss Richard Hollingsworth said: Were delighted to have secured the services of Sam Masters for both legs of the final, although obviously his participation at Somerset depends on whether Poole will need him that night or not.Sam put in 100% when he guested for us at both Edinburgh and Workington, and fitted in very well within our set-up. From those matches onwards, we wanted him as a guest should we reach the final.
