The Brit recovered from the mishap to earn two points at the chequered flag. After making a textbook start off the line in race two, Bernstorff found himself boxed in at turn two during the opening lap exchanges, initially dropping the 19 year-old to 13th position in the first half of the race.A hard fought comeback promoted the 2011 ADAC Formula Masters Vice Champion to the edge of the top ten in 11th position as the race progressed, but a tense battle with a stubborn Felipe Nasr halted his charge for a top ten finish as the race reached its conclusion. The final race of the season in the series renowned for propelling the careers of Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton and Paul Di Resta but to name a few, saw Bernstorff immediately jump Carlins Will Buller off the start line from tenth position.Despite making a good start, Bernstorff was unable to halt the first lap charges of Prema Powerteams Sven Muller, URD Rennsports Lucas Wolf and Fortec Motorsports Felix Seralles, briefly dropping to 12th position in the process, before benefitting from an incident between Sainz Jnr and Van Amersfoort Racings Lucas Auer.Running in tenth position, Bernstorff pushed hard to close in on Prema Powerteams Raffaele Marciello and Wolf in front. Wolf soon felt the pressure on the exit of Sudkurve allowing Marciello to snatch eighth position, whilst Bernstorff piled on the pressure and used his slipstream advantage to come out on top as the pairing charged towards the hairpin.Having gained the upper hand on Wolf, Bernstorffs luck soon changed when the German out broke himself at the hairpin, collecting Bernstorff as he attempted to avoid Marciello in the process.Despite an issue with bent steering, Bernstorff was able to nurse his VW powered Dallara F312, to round out his maiden season in Europes most competitive Formula 3 championship inside the top ten.Im pleased that we were able to score points in all three races to rounds off the 2012 season, explained Bernstorff. Its been a tough year and we've struggled a bit with pace, but its been a very good learning curve for me in my debut season. If we return to the championship next season then I believe that we will be in a position to fight at the front of the grid.
