All set for Regalias debut in GP2

The Argentine driver will make his debut in the GP2 series on October 30-31 during the two day official test held at Circuit de Catalunya, with twenty-six cars taking part. Regalia will drive for iSport and Racing Engineering.

Facu Regalia will debut in GP2 during official testing scheduled in Barcelona, and it will be another step forward for his career in motorsport. After competing in championships such Formula BMW, Italian Formula 3 championship, European F3 Open and Auto GP, Regalia will drive the Dallara GP2-11-Renault used in GP2 for first time. The young Argentine ace will be testing with iSport and Racing Engineering, two front-runners teams in the series, which showed interest in Regalias performances.

Ive been working very hard in the gym for this challenge, really Im looking forward to my debut in GP2 and last weeks are being so long! Im sure that this car will be even more demanding than Lola B05/52-Zytek used in Auto GP. I hope to have a quick adaptation to the car and in this way to have a good result, because its very important to catch attention from potential sponsors to compete in 2013, Regalia explained.

He added that for my entire racing career, since the beginning in Formula BMW, I was waiting for this moment, finally this dream came out and Im not able to explain how happy I feel. Racing Engineering and iSport are two really good teams and their backgrounds in GP2 prove it, and they will be a big help for me at the moment. My main concern is to adapt as soon as possible during first session in the morning and then, in the afternoon, attack for a good lap time. Next day with Racing Engineering will be slightly less difficult because I will have put experience under my belt with iSport on Tuesday. Lets see how they work and how easy I learn to adapt with. In the end, the 20 years old driver said that Im absolutely realistic about my chances, and front places will be a very difficult target to reach. In addition, Im facing drivers with loads of experience at the wheel of these cars. But I will fight for a good result. On Tuesday Ill be teaming with Jolyon Palmer at iSport, and then on Wednesday my new teammate will be Nigel Malker. They have clinched podiums in GP2, so both are good points of reference for me.

The test scheduled in Barcelona will be the first pre-season one for GP2 and no less than twenty-six cars will be on track. There will be a large number of winner drivers in other championships joining the field at Circuit de Catalunya, with veterans also taking part.
