Eacock and Howells Claim Overall Honours at Porsche Awards Finale

The annual Porsche Club Motorsport Awards Dinner held at the Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel near Tewkesbusy on Saturday 27th October saw the championships on the Clubs competitive series receive their prizes, as well as some extra awards announced on the night. Alex Eacock claimed his first Porsche Club Championship crown, while the closely-fought Porsche Club Speed Championship went to Paul Howells by one-third of a point at the end of the season.This year we have had a particularly competitive season in the Porsche Club Championship with a good mix of models at the front end, said the Porsche Clubs Motorsport Manager Steve Kevlin, and the application with which they were driven was terrific to watch all season. The Porsche Club Speed series was also closely fought, we had 25-drivers scoring points and the title was won by just 0.33 of a point!In addition to his trophy for sealing the Club title at the final meeting, outscoring long-time points leader Paul Follett, Class Two points leader Eacock, whose EMC Motorsport team also claimed the Class One Crown with Pete Morriss 996 C2, also received the unexpected prize of a trip to the 2013 Daytona 24-Hours race courtesy of series sponsor Travel Destinations, as well as a pair of bespoke race boots from Stand 21.

The coveted teams award in the series, which had 39-drivers score points over the 15-races, went to Strasse for the second successive year, Strasse racer Paul Ward accepting the trophy. Andy Toon was also given a prize in recognition of a strong debut season in the series.The Daytona trip is a fantastic and unexpected prize, said Eacock. We have had a great season and the Club championship has to be one of the most prestigious and hard-fought in the countryso to win something like that on top you just cant beat.Howells took Class One of the Speed series and just held off multiple champion Graham Rose in the final points table. It was a very good season for us, very tight at the end and it was literally my last run up the hill that confirmed the title, said Howells, who also wins a pair of bespoke race boots from Stand 21. Ive been competing a long time so there were no nerves but its nice to leave here with the trophy tonightmy son has his name on it from a few years ago!
