EMILIA-BASED TEAM ENJOYS POSITIVE MAIDEN RUN, KEEPS BMW'S BANNER HIGH
With a positive all-round performance, Team BMW Dinamic clinched the 2012 Teams title at Pergusa. The trophy is named after the sadly missed Salvatore Genovese, one of SUPERSTARS founders alongside Maurizio Flammini. A man who poured his heart and passion into the series since its inception.
The teams goal was achieved in a spectacular fashion at Pergusa, in an unpredictable finale that capped an exciting season for them. Thanks to Team BMW Dinamic, the Bavarian manufacturers banner was kept on top after young Alberto Cerqui secured the 2011 Italian Championship's honours and Thomas Biagi swept a sensational double crown in 2010 including both the Italian and the International titles.
Thomas Biagi proved a major factor in the hunt for the title. The Bologna-based racer ended up as a runner-up in the Italian Championship and also clinched third place in the International Series standings. He cruised to podium finishes in almost every round of the season including double podiums at Imola and at the Hungaroring in addition to the ones scored at Mugello, Vallelunga and Pergusa. He was joined by Stefano Gabellini, who also scored two podiums at Mugello, and by the brand-new duo of Giovanni Berton and Max Mugelli, who ended up in second and third place in Race 2 at Vallelunga.
Although Team BMW Dinamic is pretty new, team-owner Maurizio Lusuardi proved a far-sighted person as he relied on some experienced SUPERSTARS professionals and created the right chemistry between his staff. This title came thanks to the commitment of our drivers, engineers, mechanics and also of the team's management. We worked hard and found great chemistry as we kept the communication open with each other. The secret for such results? The consistency and the professionalism. I think we proved it when we were immediately able to fight for the top with two new drivers, Berton and Mugelli. We hope to continue in the same way in 2013, and to be back with the same cars, drivers and of course with the same commitment to SUPERSTARS.
