Gearlink Kawasaki signs 2011 Supersport Rivals for top line-up in 2013
Gearlink Kawasaki are delighted to announce that they have signed former British Superstock and Supersport Champion Alastair Seeley to partner Ben Wilson in the Gearlink Kawasaki squad for 2013 in the British Supersport Championship. Seeley and Wilson were major rivals in 2011 with the Ulsterman beating Wilson to the Championship crown by only one point.
2013 will now see the two pair up together as team-mates on the Kawasaki ZX-6R for the Supersport series. Adding to that the 33-year-old from Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland will also race the Northwest 200 where he has been extremely successful in the past. He will compete for Gearlink Kawasaki in the Supersport races and for MSS Kawasaki in the Superbike and Superstock classes.
Team Manager Michael de Bidaph - "This is a fantastic signing for us, it will involve a lot of work but I really think now is the right time to have two riders that can potentially win the Championship for Gearlink Kawasaki.
This news has given everyone involved a boost and we are really excited about running Ben and Alastair alongside each other on the Kawasaki's. We want to get back to winning races again and believe the two top riders will inspire each other to go well.
It is great to get Alastair on board and we hope that the results will follow; we are looking forward to competing at the Northwest 200 again next year and hopefully will bring back some silverware. We are currently looking for any new sponsors that wish to join the Gearlink Kawasaki team next season if anyone is interested please e-mail us on Gearlink@aol.com.
We have been working on the deal for a few weeks and we were fortunate to have a number of top riders approach us towards the end of the season and believe we now have the best two to put up a good fight in the British Supersport Championship next season. We will be doing some extensive testing before the season starts to get Alastair settled onto the Kawasaki and Ben some track time and very excited about next season and getting the first race at Brands Hatch in April."
Alastair Seeley - "I'm really pleased to have come to an arrangement and signed a deal with Gearlink Kawasaki. I'm back on a Supersport bike which is where I am happiest and really hope the results will start coming back again. It's been a tough year in the Superbike class and I'm really eager to get a good result next season. I had a brief test at Mallory last week but it was wet and very cold and I didn't want to do anything stupid but was happy to get a deal sorted with Michael.
I am eager to get back in the Supersport class and I believe Gearlink Kawasaki will help me achieve where I want to be. I think Ben and I will spur each other on to want to do well and get good results next year. I have also linked it in with the Northwest 200 which is a really important race on my race calendar and I'll be racing with Gearlink and MSS Kawasaki there which will be great. I'd like to thank Michael and Norma for this opportunity and looking forward to 2013 and getting started."
