RL Scores Brilliant 1,2,3 at Kimbolton

After a successful weekend at Whilton Mill, RL Racing Department maintained its strong autumn form with its drivers dominating the Mini Max podium at Kimbolton.

Formula Kart Stars champion Mini Max champion Lando Norris spearheaded a dominant RL Racing Department performance at the fast Cambridgeshire circuit, last Sunday (11 November). It was far from a cakewalk for the talented youngster, after Hugo Bentley-Ellis delivered another superb drive. Gaby Weyers return to competitive action produced a richly deserved trophy in an absorbing final.

Lando was in superb form and dominated throughout the meeting, however he was pushed hard by Bentley Dog in the final. Gaby made a great come back from an off-track excursion at the start of the final and stormed through to 3rd place.

He added: Sandy Mitchell was ever-improving after not having seen the track prior to Saturday. Not only that, he managed to lead the first heat, showing he can run at the front. Sandy was running in an excellent 4th spot in the final but was shuffled down to 6th at the finish.

Fellow new signing Jack McCarthy managed to pip his team-mate to 5th during the last lap run to the chequered flag.

Not content with his Mini Max success, Lando also raced in the Junior Max class and was made to work hard in the heats. A mid-grid starting position and poor start required him to dig deep and deliver an impressively gritty drive to 5th in the final.

Landos older brother, Oli, is still getting to grips with life in the Senior ranks, but gave a good account of himself with two 6th place finishes in his two heats.

His results gave him P3 for the start of the final, explains Steve. From there he was given something of a lesson in senior racing. Oli was bundled back to 8th by the more experienced drivers, but showed that he was fast enough to have finished 3rd.

Overall, Im really pleased with all the drivers. The conditions were pretty testing and we dont race too often at Kimbolton, so weve all had to work hard to earn these good results. Theyre learning all the time and club races always give you a stern test, as youre up against the local experts. Its all pointing in the right direction.

RL Racing Department has only three race seats left available for 2013, one in each classMini, Junior and Senior Max. For more information, call Steve Armstrong NOW on 07843 596 416
