After having rounded out an incredibly successful 2012 season last month at Pergusa, SUPERSTARS is still the talk of the day in European racing. While a record-high of 177,600 fans showing their support on-track over the year, the series was televised in 195 territories (with 66 of them covered live) and a stellar field included seven former Formula 1 racers.
This week the SUPERSTARS SERIES was honoured with a nomination for the “Professional Motorsport Expo 2012 Awards” held in Köln, Germany. What made things even more outstanding is that only four racing series were selected for the competition; including the world-renowned DTM, the Blancpain Endurance Series, and the British Formula Renault BARC.
The nominations were decided by a panel of auto racing journalists and experts selected by Motorsport Total, one of the most renowned racing magazines in Germany. The panel featured Volkswagen Motorsport's Director Jost Capito and former World Rally driver Armin Schwarz. The prize was eventually won by the DTM, still a leading series in Germany. On the other hand, the credit given to SUPERSTARS reflects the huge international interest that gravitates around the FG GROUP-promoted series.
With nine different car brands on the roster including Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jaguar, Lexus, Maserati and Mercedes-Benz, the 2012 SUPERSTARS SERIES provided Teams, Drivers and Fans with spectacular races and superb technical expertise.
The nomination for the “Professional Motorsport Expo 2012 Awards” represents a further step for SUPERSTARS at the end of its ninth season, a key one in many aspects. A further sign of recognition for the 500-horsepower touring car series, and a strong starting point for 2013. The new season will definitely be one of the most competitive in the history of the sport.
