The Pirelli-supported GT Cup championship has confirmed that the 2013 calendar will feature seven rounds comprising of 19 races.
Italian tyre firm Pirelli will remain the championships official tyre supplier as the all-action series prepares to visit the UKs most prestigious race circuits including the home of British motorsport: the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.
Each two day round will comprise of one 40 minute race with a compulsory pit stop on the Saturday, and two twenty-five minute sprint races on the Sunday. The Saturday will also include a forty minute free practice session, and each day will have a 20 minute qualifying session. One-day rounds will have 30 minute qualifying session and two twenty five minute sprint races.
The Bute Motorsport organising team continues with Hannah Wilson as championship coordinator and Phil Boland as the technical coordinator. The team has also been joined by Rob Janes in a new role to help promote the championship.
Championship boss, Marc Haynes, commented: We have put a great deal of time and thought into our plans for the 2013 season and consulted widely with competitors and teams. These exciting developments will take the GT Cup Championship forward in a positive way.
Pirelli Tyre UK operations manager, Matthew Corby, said: Pirelli has been involved with the GT Cup Championship for four years and were delighted to return as the official series supplier for 2013. Its fantastic to have a calendar that includes the crme de la crme of British motorsport circuits and the return of National B licence entries and two driver team entries will add another element to next years racing.
