Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix tickets on sale now

Tickets for the 2013 Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix at Stockholms stunning Friends Arena on September 21 are now on sale.

The venue opened its doors on October 27 with a spectacular show directed by Colin Nutley. Swedens national football team defeated England 4-2 there on November 14, courtesy of an unforgettable four-goal masterclass from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now Antonio Lindback, Fredrik Lindgren and Andreas Jonsson will bid to write their names in the young venues history books by winning the first ever motorsport event to be staged there.

World Championship racing was last held in the Swedish capital on May 1, 2004, when Australian great Leigh Adams topped the rostrum in the FIM Swedish SGP at Stockholms Olympiastadion.

The city will have been absent from the SGP scene for over nine years by the time the Friends Arena stages what will be the penultimate round of next seasons World Championship.

But BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy is confident the shale sport will return to Stockholm in spectacular style.

He said: When I attended the match between Sweden and England earlier this month, it was clear we had made a great decision in bringing the SGP series to the Friends Arena.

The facilities are world-class and the noise under the roof, especially when Ibrahimovic scored that famous propeller kick, was incredible. But Im sure speedway fans can better that roar when the Scandinavian FIM Speedway Grand Prix comes to town.

I know many fans around Europe were excited when they first saw pictures of the Friends Arena. I hope they flock to Stockholm to enjoy what is already one of the most hotly-anticipated events on the 2013 SGP calendar.

Friends Arena commercial director, Martin Englund, is just as thrilled to host the stadiums first motorsport event.

He commented: The Friends Arena will be the perfect setting for showcasing World Championship speedway. We look forward to welcoming the thousands of fans from across Sweden and the world to what will be a historical event for the stadium and fans alike.
